Energy System Simulations

These were projects I worked on as part of an HVAC modeling and controls course in the Spring of 2014.  The first phase involved using MATLAB’s Simulink to simulate the response of light and heavy weight wall construction to diurnal temperature variation using state-space models.  The second phase took the wall construction models from phase one and modeled the performance of a passive HVAC design using TMY3 weather data for Salem, Oregon and Omaha, Nebraska.  The third phase extended the model developed in the second phase to include a secondary HVAC plant.  Specifically, steam radiators for heating and a chilled ceiling for cooling, both controlled using PID controllers.
